What does the course workbook actually teach me?
The workbook runs 12 modules and covers everything you need to go from shooting on auto to confidently shooting in manual mode. Here's what you'll work through:
Module 1 & 2 — Light Understanding why light is everything in photography, how to read it, and how to use natural light — direct, dappled, and diffused — to create beautiful images.
Module 3 — Focus What focus actually is, how your camera uses it, and how to control it so your subject is always sharp.
Modules 4–7 — Exposure (the big one) How aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work together to create a perfectly exposed image. This is where most people's photography completely changes.
Module 8 — White Balance / Kelvin How to get accurate, warm, natural-looking colour in every photo — and why your images sometimes look orange or blue.
Module 9 — Composition The rule of thirds, centralising your subject, rule of odds — the principles that make a photo feel intentional rather than accidental.

I'm a photographer, a photography educator, and most importantly for context, a mum of three who genuinely believes that the photos you take of your own family are some of the most valuable things you'll ever create.
I didn't start here. I trained as a midwife, hated the roster, wanted to be home with my baby, and taught myself photography as a way out. What started as a side project became Fable & Fig, a photography business I ran for 10+ years, shooting newborns, families, and maternity sessions.
But the thing I loved most was never the client work. It was picking up my camera on holidays. Photographing my kids on ordinary Tuesdays. Building a visual record of our family that nobody can take from us. Tales Told grew out of that. I wanted to teach other people what I'd learned so they can do it too because I believe its one of the most valuable skills I have ever learned as a mum. This bundle has everything I know.
